    A Brief History

    Old Navy was founded by Millard Drexler in 1994 and was originally was named Gap Warehouse. The first locations were opened in the northern California towns of Colma, San Leandro and Pittsburg. Each store was designed like grocery stores allowing customers to flow through aisles and placing small impulse items near the checkout counters. The establishments also featured cement floors, metal shelving, and checkout counters from polished pressed board. It only took a year before an additional 42 stores started to pop up around the country. 6 years later the retail giant had over 500 stores and produced $1 billion in revenue.
