    A Brief History

    Godiva was founded in 1926 in Brussels, Belgium by the Draps family. The family wanted to bring chocolate to their city and as more and more people fell in love with their treats, the company started to expand. Their first shop outside of Belgium was opened in Paris on Rue Saint Honore in 1958. By 1966, the chocolatiers reached the United States where they were the center pieces of luxury shopping centers. One year later the company was purchased by the Campbell Soup company. From hear the stores quickly spread with the first opening on New York City’s Fifth Avenue.
