A Brief History

Chuck E. Cheese was founded by the same person that originally founded the Atari company, Nolan Bushnell. His vision was to expand video game arcades beyond adult locations such as pool halls to more of a family location. Finally he saw his dream come true as the first store was opened in San Jose, California in 1977. This location quickly became the first family restaurant to successfully integrate food, animated entertainment, and an indoor arcade. The company took up a franchise model that quickly proved profitable as chains began springing up across the United States.
