    A Brief History

Charlotte Russe, founded in 1975 by Daniel Lawrence and his two brothers, was immediately popular among its target market from the beginning. The first storefront would take root in San Diego, California. As trends began to change in the fashion industry, so did the offerings at the retailer. Lawrence decided to change the style of clothing to better adapt to original customers and young women. This change helped to propel Charlotte Russe to over $50 million in revenue by 1991. 5 years after this change the company was acquired by SKM who expanded the chain into a national chain of shopping mall stores.
