A Brief History

Maxine Clark was the brilliant mind behind Build-A-Bear Workshop and opened the first location in 1997. She was one of the first individuals to create something never before seen in the retail world called “experiential retail”. This new experience allowed for customers to be part of the adventure in crafting their own “furrever friend”. This idea quickly created a following of devoted patrons who wanted the memories that come with building your own furry friend.
