A Brief History

Buckle was established in 1948 by David Hirschfeld as a men’s clothing store. Originally the company operated under the name Mills Clothing and the second location would later be known as Brass Buckle. As the company moved into the 1970s they began to sell more casual men’s clothing and turned their storefronts into denim-based stores offering jeans and shirts. It was also during this time that the decision was made to begin selling women’s clothing. In 1991 the company transitioned their brand once again and the name “Buckle” was chosen. They continued to experience continued growth as they operated more than 200 stores by 1998 and launched their 400th store in 2009.
