    A Brief History

Baskin Robbins was founded in 1945 by Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins of Glendale, California. Both Burt and Irv owned separate ice cream parlors and decided to merge their ventures together into one company. It only took 3 years before the company expanded to six storefronts and offered up to 31 unique flavors to its customers. The chain remained with the original founders for the next 20 years until it was acquired by the United Brands Company in 1967. The 1970s saw the ice cream parlor expand internationally opening stores across Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Australia. Most recently the chain successfully integrated their products into supermarkets across the U.S.
